TAYLOR CLARK ART GALLERY: John James Audubon Collection - Princeton Edition

Introduced in 1985, the “Princeton Edition” refers to the direct-camera lithograph edition produced from select images from the original Havell Edition of the Birds Of America. The original double elephant folio format was used, depicting the birds in their natural life size.

The prints are printed at the Princeton Polychrome Press in Princeton, New Jersey. Up to nine different printing plates are used on a four-color press. The edition is limited to 1500 copies worldwide.

The paper for this edition is a very heavy museum quality, acid-free, non-gloss paper, specially toned to match the color of the original Havell prints. It is approved by the United States Library of Congress for archival use.
